*Over the years, a great many of these 1978 Macau Grande Prix Coins have suffered damage. This resulting in scratches, rim bumps and fingerprints. It is becoming more and more difficult to find these low mintage collectibles in mint issued state, making these pristine pieces all the more desirable and attractive to collectors.
The 1978 Grand Prix Silver and Gold coins were minted to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Macau Grand Prix. The 100 Patacas are struck in Sterling Silver, 39mm, with a face value of 100 Patacas (Over 12Usd). Additional, a rare 100 Patacas Copper-nickel was also struck as a trial pattern. These are highly sought after and can sell in the thousands. The 500 Patacas 22 gm Gold Grande Prix or Premio has a mintage of 5,500 and like their silver counterpart they are the first coins in the history of Macau to be struck in Proof!
