The Macau Lunar Coin Series (2008-2019) issued by the Monetary Authority of Macau and exclusively minted by The Singapore Mint, presents Macau’s unique blend of cultures and historical values. The Macau Lunar Pig Coin is issued in conjunction with the Lunar Year of the Pig.
The obverse side of the coin features a lively and robust pig accompanied by elegant blooms of hydrangeas. Round and in full bloom, hydrangeas portray abundance and prosperity as they are made up of a burst of smaller delicate flowers.
The reverse side features the Na Tcha Temple, which is located within the Historic Centre of Macau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in 1888, it is a Chinese traditional temple that worships the deity Na Tcha. The temple is located near the Ruins of St. Paul’s, presenting a mix of Western and Chinese ideals. It portrays the unique multicultural identity of Macau and its religious freedom.
