The People’s Bank of China is to issue the Gold and Silver Commemorative Coins of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games (First Issue) on 1st December, 2020. The program consists of 9 coins, including three gold coins, five silver coins, and one gold and silver bi-metal coin. All of them are the legal-tendered coins of the People’s Republic of China.

Design of the Coins:

Obverse Design:

The common obverse features the emblem of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games, the Great Wall with snowflakes, the title of PRC and the year date.

Reverse Design:

The 150g round silver coin depicts elements from a Qing dynasty painting bing xi tu (Picture of the Ice Skating Game), the words “XXIV Olympic Winter Games” in Chinese and the face value.

The 150g round silver coin, is proof coin, has diameter of 70mm, face value of 50 yuan, 99.9% of fineness and contains 150 grams of pure silver. The maximum mintage is 20000 pieces.
