Design of the coin:

The gold 1978 Hong Kong Horse obverse features a Crowned bust facing right Lettering: QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND 1978 by Engraver:Arnold Machin.

The reverse of the coins depicts the Horse in centre prancing on the cloud, Hong Kong on top, denomination down below with the lettering: HONG KONG 港 香 $1000

The 15.97g (1/2 oz) round gold coin is bullion in quality, 28.4 mm in diameter, 1000 Hong Kong Dollar in face value, .917 % in fineness and contains 1/2 troy ounce of pure gold. The maximal mintage is 20,000 pieces.
