2008 China Silver “Beijing Banknote Printing Plant” PANDA Coin (Gilded)
In May of the Year 2008 The People’s Bank of China is to issue a panda silver commemorative coin inscribed with words for the 100th anniversary of the founding of Beijing Banknote Printing Plant.
The reverse of the coin features a mother panda and her baby, characters of of “1oz Ag .999” and English version of“100th Anniversary of the Founding of Beijing Banknote Printing Plant” and the face value. The reverse of the coins is partially gold plated around the rim.
The obverse of the coin depicts the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests (The Temple of Heaven), Chinese version of “100th Anniversary of the founding of Beijing Banknote Printing Plant”, the title of the People’s Republic of China and the year date. The obverse of the coin is also partially gold plated covering the Panda Bears and around the rim.
The coin is bullion in quality, round in shape, 40 mm in diameter, 10 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 1 troy ounce of pure silver. The total planned mintage is 20000 pieces. However, it appears evident by its high price at auction that the total issues were not minted.
