The People’s Bank of China is to issue a set of 2017 Chinese Panda gold and silver commemorative coins from October 28th 2016. The set consists of 12 coins, including 6 gold and silver bullion coins (which will be issued on 28th 2016) and 6 gold and silver proof coins (which will be issued on December 15th 2016), all of which are the legal tender of the People’s Republic of China.
Design of the coins
The gold and silver coins bear the common obverse of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests (The Temple of Heaven), the title of the People’s Republic of China and the year date; the common reverse of the coins depicts a panda eating the bamboos and the face value.
The 150g round silver coin is proof in quality, 70 mm in diameter, 50 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 150 grams of pure silver. The maximal mintage is 60,000 pieces.
The 150g silver coins are minted by Shenzhen Guobao Mint, Shanghai Mint and Shenyang Mint respectively, and solely distributed by China Gold Coin Incorporation.
